| This department deals
with the diagnosis and
management of diseases
which affect the tissues
supporting the tooth
(gingival and
periodontal conditions).
Treatment includes non
surgical and surgical
procedures and emphasis
is given on good oral
hygiene/practices by the
patient by giving them
oral hygiene
instructions.
Teaching:
teaching is provided to
the undergraduate
students of the BDS and
the MBBS (under oral
health) programs
according to the
academic curriculum.
Research: the
department has
undertaken an approved
research project under
the BPKIHS research
grant, entitled
"periodontal plastic
surgery for augmentation
of gingival defects in
the maxillary anterior
teeth. – a novel
technique using guided
tissue regeneration
membrane.
Clinical service:
apart from routine oral
prophylaxis procedures
and oral hygiene
maintenance
instructions,
appropriate periodontal
surgical procedures are
undertaken as
out-patient treatment. |
